Why did Jesus have to come as a baby?

Image
If you prefer to listen please click here  https://youtu.be/kd3iyysh_Lk Why did Jesus have to come as a baby? Many can tell the Christmas story, but the real question is Why?  Why was Jesus born as a baby?  Why did he have to come to the earth in this manner?  Until we can understand the Why, we will not be able to enter into the fulness of what True Christianity is all about.   The well known and quoted scriptures about the Christmas Story are read every year, and still people don't understand what they are really reading or hearing.  Many can quote these scriptures by memory, they sing the carols and Christmas songs, without ever even asking the question "BUT WHY?" Isaiah 9 v 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given;  and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. This scripture in Isaiah 9, lets us know that there...

Are you Ready?

Image
Are you Ready? We are often asked "Are you all ready for Christmas?" At this time of year there is much preparation, buying gifts, getting our homes ready and filling our shopping trollies with goodies.  We love the lights and decorations that brighten up the long winter nights, the joyful Christmas music filling the air. When our children are small, it is easier to be prepared, and filled with excitement and joy.  For some it is about spending time with friends and family, or just a time of peace and rest from work. I am that person who is never ready for Christmas, today is the 7th of December and I haven't even started shopping or planning. But this morning I woke, thinking about preparing for another Day.  As things in the world seem to be getting more crazy by the day, and so much fear and uncertainty about the future.  I realised that for many of God's people there is something filling the air - a heart felt excitement and a renewed sense of ex...

Be Still and Know

Image
click here to listen   Psalm 46:10 KJV Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. This is one of the most comforting scriptures given to the Child of God.  It is quoted so often and many times I had quoted it, without really knowing what it meant.  When a storm arises our first natural response is to panic and fear - but Praise God, there is a better way.  To run into His presence - and find security, refuge, strength and peace.   The greatest lesson I have learned in my walk with God is to sit down, shut up and listen.  To listen to what God says, not what the problem or storm is trying to say.  When I first heard the Holy Spirit say that to me,  I was shaken to the depth of my soul - I discovered very quickly that I had better listen to what God was saying. Have you ever felt like putting your hands on someone's shoulder and shaking some sense into them?  Twice the Holy ...

One Step at a time

Image
if you prefer to listen please click here ONE STEP AT A TIME Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. This is one of my most favourite scriptures, It is so full of hope and promise.  A hope that the Lord is faithful and the promise of his direction.  When we need healing, restoration or direction, there is nothing better than to feast on the Word of God and to rest in his peace.  It is medicine to our soul.   When we can't seem to find our way - remember that our Heavenly Father already knows - he can show us what really is, and what shall be.  I have been reading the book of Genesis this week, and I have been so blessed at how God was always working all things together for good for his children.  Even when it looked like everything was going the wrong way - He was working it together for good.   As I have been meditati...

Praise God, The Answer is on the way

Image
1 John 5 vs 13 - 15 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.  And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him, and since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. Have you ever suffered from the lack of confidence?  I have many times, but there's one thing that I have a held unto and that is confidence in my Heavenly Father.  This little song, which is from the King James Version of 1 John 5 vs 14 and 15. is something I remember from my childhood, it was 1st published in 1972, the year I was born 😀, the composer is unknown, but the words are scripture, inspired by the Holy Spirit.  So they are true and we can have this confidence.   I remember when I was a child, hearing the saints of God saying, after they had prayed "Praise God, The Answer is on the way" .  That was confidence, be...

Strength like no other

Image
Strength like no other It can seem like a strange statement at first, when we hear that there is strength in our weakness.  But this is something that when you realise it is true, will change your life.  Most of the struggles we have in life come from not being able to adapt to change.  Yet time and change are two things in life that we must accept that we have no control over.  Time just keeps rolling on like the waves on the ocean, nothing stops it and the other thing about life is that change is always happening.  Yet change can cause us so much pain and sorrow.  Even good changes in our lives take time for us to adjust.   The biggest challenge we face is 'how we think about a thing'.  Everything can change around us, but if we don't change our thinking we will continue to feel miserable and lost.   BUT there is a great peace to be found in realising that all may change but Jesus remains the same yesterday, today and forev...

The Heart of the Matter

Image
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.   Proverbs 23 v 7 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it  flow  the springs of life .  Proverbs 4 v 23 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.   Luke 6 v 45. The Heart of the Matter Have you noticed that each of these scriptures is talking about 'The Heart'?  Many times we are trying so hard to change or control our thinking and to keep our conversation right, that we find ourselves exhausted and discouraged.  It can feel like we are just going around and around in circles. We desire our lives to change but it can feel impossible. When we see scriptures like this it is talking about the heart or the centre of our being, the scientific world has named it the sub-conscious, because they cannot fully comprehend the depths of the soul of man. From the ...

" You are Amazing God"

Image
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether  they be  thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Colossians 1 v 16 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  Revelation 4 v 11 The Word God means -  1. Self Sustaining One   2. Self Sufficient One 3. He who is When we Worship God, we remember and acknowledge " The One who gave life and who sustains life" , The Creator of all creation is the same who sustains all creation.  This is why God demands our worship.  It is an insult to God to worship or place 'worth' on an idol or god who can neither create or sustain anything, in fact without God himself nothing exists.  This is something that most Christians would agree with but very few really understand the depth of how imp...

Is there anything to hard for God?

Image
Is there anything to hard for God? Psalm 46 v 10  Be still, and know that I  am  God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.   I remember reading this verse and the thought came into my mind " you need to sit down, shut up and listen " at first I thought this is a bit strong.  But I soon realised that this is actually what I needed to hear and to do.  I had been crying out to God to change the circumstances around me, because I felt I couldn't take anymore and that was what I was telling God.  I started to sit down and shut up and just give myself to God.  I had come to a place that I knew, if God doesn't help me, I have no other help.  And the most wonderful thing began to happen, I began to hear his voice.  It was like a gentle whisper and I soon realised that he had been speaking all the time, I just had not been silent long enough to hear.  I hadn't been recognising his voice, instead I ...

Home Sweet Home

Image
Revelation 21:1-4  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Have you ever heard the old Gospel Song - This World is not my home, I'm just a passing through? I have put a link to it below.  It asks this question "If heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?"  Have you ever asked yourself that question? No matter how great our journey has been, it is always lovely to arrive home.  When my husb...
