Strength like no other
Strength like no other
It can seem like a strange statement at first, when we hear that there is strength in our weakness. But this is something that when you realise it is true, will change your life. Most of the struggles we have in life come from not being able to adapt to change. Yet time and change are two things in life that we must accept that we have no control over. Time just keeps rolling on like the waves on the ocean, nothing stops it and the other thing about life is that change is always happening. Yet change can cause us so much pain and sorrow. Even good changes in our lives take time for us to adjust.
The biggest challenge we face is 'how we think about a thing'. Everything can change around us, but if we don't change our thinking we will continue to feel miserable and lost.
BUT there is a great peace to be found in realising that all may change but Jesus remains the same yesterday, today and forever. Our Heavenly Father remains the same, his promises never change and his word endures forever.
You may say "I know that is true - but how does that help me come to terms with the changes in my life?" and this is one of the biggest challenges in our lives - being able to renew our minds. You see the bible says in Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
In this verse we can see a great secret -
When we find ourselves in 'change' or difficult situations we can have a confidence that when we are allowing our hearts and minds to be transformed - which means - we are allowing ourselves to 'think differently' we will be changed and the best news of all is that as we allow our hearts and minds to agree with God's ways, we will discover more of his plans and his perfect will for our lives.
When we are discovering more about God's great plans and purpose for our lives, he will be strengthening us to move forward. We will no longer be a slave to the old way of thinking and the past failures or defeats or even the past victories. We may not like change or feel comfortable about it, but as we learn to trust God and to walk forward we will move forward with a confidence and a strength knowing that we are not alone, our God will never leave us nor forsake us and that He is our strength.
What a great release and lightness in spirit we find when we realise that we don't have to rely on our own strength and our future does not depend on our own abilities - but that we have perfect strength in Christ and in our Heavenly Father. We can confidently say "I can do nothing of myself" BUT "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". This is not a contradiction but it is a revelation that I cannot rely on my own strength but I can fully trust in his.
I cannot fail when I am in agreement with my God and King.
There is great strength to be found when you choose to worship your King, in the midst of your situation. Like the words of this little chorus:-
He gives strength to me as I worship him
and my heart is filled with praise
Jesus breaks the bands as I raise my hands
He gives glorious victory.
Be encouraged today, to take time to worship and praise your God for being with you and for having a good plan for your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to change from the inside out and strengthen you, so that you can discover your God given purpose.
All things are possible to those who believe and all things work together for good to those who love God and who are called according to his purpose.
And remember this "nothing in your life is a surprise to God". He is never shocked or taken unawares - He always has a way of escape and a way forward for you.
I use music to help me to be still and to know the peace of God and I pray that as you listen to these songs, no matter what is going on in your life that you will be able to take a few moments just to breathe and to be still - and I pray for you that you will feel the peace of God and know that he loves you with an everlasting love and that he wants you to experience his strength as you allow him to carry you through or to lead you by the hand. Amen.
Love Audrey
