Be Still and Know
Psalm 46:10 KJV
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
This is one of the most comforting scriptures given to the Child of God. It is quoted so often and many times I had quoted it, without really knowing what it meant.
When a storm arises our first natural response is to panic and fear - but Praise God, there is a better way. To run into His presence - and find security, refuge, strength and peace.
The greatest lesson I have learned in my walk with God is to sit down, shut up and listen. To listen to what God says, not what the problem or storm is trying to say. When I first heard the Holy Spirit say that to me, I was shaken to the depth of my soul - I discovered very quickly that I had better listen to what God was saying.
Have you ever felt like putting your hands on someone's shoulder and shaking some sense into them? Twice the Holy Spirit has done that with me, and I knew in those very seconds - I had better listen and obey. I remember the story of Moses and the children of Israel, how God only wanted the best for them, but again and again they missed it, because they would not listen or harken unto the voice of their God.
The Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father given to those who are born again, and he is the one who reveals the very will of the Father to us, and also is the one who leads us into all truth. I refuse to be moved by panic or fear - because I have made up my mind to hear what God has said and to hold to that - no matter what. Is it easy? No - but it is made possible - because Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Psalm 9:10 KJV
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Psalm 56:3-4 KJV
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
