Prepare the Way for the Lord

Image
Prepare the Way for the Lord Isaiah 40 vs 1 - 5 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.  Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned;  for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.  The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.  Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low:  and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:  And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together:  for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. This is such a beautiful and powerful scripture, the Prophet Isaiah was speaking and writing being inspired by the Holy Ghost about the Coming of the Messiah.  He was looking ahead to the greatest event in history and saying that nothing would be able to stop or hi...

We are Called to Take His Light

Image
We are called to take His Light There is so much in the world around us today to distract and to discourage God's People.  But through it all there is a urgency that we must not forget - People need the Lord.   My heart is heavy today with the knowledge that there is a great harvest field of people who are ready to hear the truth.  Not religion not just words but the Truth that sets us free.  It is time for the Church of Jesus to Arise and to be the Minister's of Fire that God has called us to be. The words of this song sums it up for me: Every day they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes Empty people filled with care, headed who knows where On they go through private pain, living fear to fear Laughter hides the silent cries, only Jesus hears People need the Lord, People need the Lord At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door People need the Lord, People need the Lord When will we realise, People need the Lord We are called to take His light, to ...

The Greatest Treasure

Image
The Greatest Treasure In my business, restoring and selling Antique furniture, we meet so many people, who are looking to sell to us.  It is the part of our business that we find quite difficult.  Because most of the people we meet are having to sell, because their parents have had to go into care or have passed away and their homes and everything in them are being sold.  Its quite a sad thing to go into someone's house and know that that person has worked hard all their life, and looked after and cherished their possessions, precious gifts from loved ones and sometimes furniture that was passed down to them.  Now the family has no room, because they have their own homes filled with their own possessions and now that piece that their mother or father treasured is only worth a fraction of what it originally cost. It always makes me think of the real treasures in life.  And I hear the same question from people all the time "What was it all for, they couldn'...

Trees of Righteousness

Image
(I have recorded myself reading today's blog, for anyone who would rather listen than read - you can find this at the bottom of the page) Isaiah 61v3 "To provide for those who grieve in Zion- to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise in place of a spirit of despair.  So they will be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified." God calls his people Trees of Righteousness, the planting of the Lord. Why are we called Trees of Righteousness? 1. Like trees are the beauty of the landscape so The Church of Jesus is the beauty of the World. 2. Like a tree is known for it's great strength to stand for many years through many storms so are we strong in the Lord. Walking in his Joy which is our strength as we are rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ. 3.  As a tree is fruitful so are we called to bring forth fruit in our lives to glorify our God. Have you ever bought a pl...

Speak the Word Only

Image
Here are the notes for the teaching from last Sunday, the recording is at the end of the page. The Bible says in Proverbs 4v22  "For they (God's Words through scripture) are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."  there is something very precious when we search the scriptures and find out what God has said.  I challenge you to take just one of the 6 points of hindrances to faith and do a search to find out what scriptures you can find regarding that point.  And as you do receive the  promise of Proverbs 4v22.  “Speak the Word Only” Matthew chapter 8 vs 5-13 The Centurion came to Jesus beseeching him Beseeching means to ask urgently and fervently to implore Implore   means to ask in a very sincere , emotional and determined way F O C U S    F   - Fixed on the Word O – Open door to the Father C – Completion of the Cross U – Under Authority S – Salvation and all its benefits F ...

The Prince of Peace

For He is the Prince of Peace And He dwells within my heart The Living Word, The Great I AM The Holy One He is with me everyday And He leads me all the way Through the Fire and Through the Flood He's made a way Over the last few weeks, I have had the privilege and joy to share my testimony with new people that I have  met through my work.  As they have poured out their heart to me, I have been able to share what God has brought me through and encourage them that He loves them and wants them to experience his love for themselves. I get the same response every time, they all have said to me "but You are so peaceful".  They are surprised and have all made the comment  "You must be a very strong person". This song really explains where the strength and peace comes from.  I wrote this a few years ago, and it is something I remind myself and meditate on daily.  That Jesus is My Prince of Peace and He is within me, He never lea...

Cast all your cares unto Jesus part 2

Welcome to Part 2 - continuing on from our last blog -  Cast all your cares unto Jesus. Last time we looked at Isaiah 53 v 1, now lets look at the next verses - 2  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. We see here that Jesus was despised and rejected, he knew sorrow and grief.  Christians talk about how Jesus suffered on the cross and how he paid the price so that we could be saved.  But I wonder if many times, we forget or don't really stop to think about WHY?  Why was He despised and rejected?  ...
