Prepare the Way for the Lord

Prepare the Way for the Lord

Isaiah 40 vs 1 - 5

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.  Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned;  for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low:  and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:  And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together:  for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

This is such a beautiful and powerful scripture, the Prophet Isaiah was speaking and writing being inspired by the Holy Ghost about the Coming of the Messiah.  He was looking ahead to the greatest event in history and saying that nothing would be able to stop or hinder it.   Then we see John the Baptist also under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost declaring this same scripture in Luke 3 v 4 - 6

"As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;  and all flesh shall see the salvation of God."

Both Isaiah and John, were truly blessed to have received this revelation.  In the days of Isaiah, He was inspired to write and prophesy the coming Messiah, about his death and resurrection.  And How blessed he must have been in his time, and like wise how blessed John the Baptise was to be the one crying in the wilderness - preparing the hearts of people to get ready for the Messiah.  And then to actually baptise Jesus in the water, to hear the voice of the Father saying "This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased" and to see the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus.

It fills my heart with pure joy to realise that we are living in the days when once again there is a cry rising up over every nation of the world - "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord". For the Next Greatest Event.  I can feel it in the air and I can hear it coming closer, Jesus is Coming Again.  This time he is not coming as the Lamb of God, he is not coming to die but He is coming in his Majesty, as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.  And we his people will be caught up in the air to meet him.  To live with him for all eternity.  As the old gospel song says "What a day that will be".

But before he comes there is an urgent call for the people of God to rise up and to declare the Word of God to all creation.  We as the people of God must begin to speak these scriptures to the mountains and the valleys, the rough and crooked paths that are hindering people from receiving truth and light. And those plans of the enemy that are attempting to bring destruction.  We can declare that the glory of the Lord is upon us.  Let the words of this song minister into your spirit and your life today that you will be loosed from everything that hinders you and that you will be strengthened to walk in the glory of God and complete the work and the calling that God has for you.  Don't settle for less than what God has promised you.  For he is faithful that promised.  Remember what what Isaiah said "for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it."

Lord I pray that we your people will be filled with the same Holy Spirit that inspired Isaiah and John the Baptist, that we will have a fire to declare your Word in these days that nothing can hinder or stop.  I command the mountains standing before your people to be brought low and valleys to be lifted up and the crooked paths to be made straight, as we go forth in your Name and declare your Word in the earth. Let faith arise in the your people Lord to stand and declare "Prepare ye the way of the Lord" and speak with boldness knowing that the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.  Reveal your Word to your people more and more in these days.  Amen.
