Remember the good things
Do you see the little bird in the picture? Sitting so pretty, not a care in the world. What a beautiful picture of tranquility and contentment.
Matthew 6 v 26 Jesus said Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Have you ever asked yourself this question?
Today I have been thinking about how good God is and how worthy he is to be praised. My heart is grieved at all the 'bad news' it seems that people remember the bad things easier than the good things.
I have always loved to praise God and to sing praises to him. I was very quiet and shy as a child, and was never asked to sing at sunday school or school, in fact I was told a number of times that I wasn't good enough. But this didn't stop me singing to God, He never told me I wasn't good enough. I didn't sing because I thought I was good at it, I sang because I wanted to, I enjoyed it, it made me happy. It didn't really matter if no-body else heard me I knew that God heard me and that's all that mattered.
When I started music lessons, I was given the usual music to play to start working for exams. My friends were only interested in getting the grades but I didn't enjoy it, so I took my hymn book to my music teacher and told him, I just want to worship God, I just want to play gospel music. He was surprised to begin with but he agreed and soon he was enjoying it as much as I was. My friends stressed about doing exams and grades, and worked hard for years but by the time we were leaving school, I was the only one still playing the piano and loved doing it.
I tell you this to encourage you today that God will use what you give to him. He doesn't need you to be the best, or to be great at whatever it is. He only requires you to give it to him.
I have chosen a little happy song today that I learned in Sunday School. And I want to encourage you to give God thanks for something good everyday. God loves it when we say thank you. Even on our darkest days we can find something good to praise God for. And when we praise Him, he comes and helps us, strengthens us, carries us and leads us to safety.
We will experience his peace and joy when we have an attitude of gratitude. We don't have to only remember the hard and difficult memories, we can choose to remember the good memories. When we are tempted to worry about the future we can choose to praise God that he has a good plan for us. Praise and Worship to God the creator, the Lord of every man, our Heavenly Father is our greatest weapon in battle, and our greatest joy and peace in every area of our lives.
I thank God for you today as you read this and listen to this little song that it will put a smile on your face to say Thank You Father God for loving me, Thank You Lord Jesus for loving me. x Audrey
