The Greatest Gift of ALL

I love this little country of Northern Ireland, it always amazes me the different accents and sayings from the different counties and towns.  You can tell which part of the country most people are from just by listening to their accent.

I remember at high school, learning French, at the end of 3rd year when we were asked to choose which subjects we wanted to study for GCSEs.  I had a  discussion with my French teacher, who told me that he would like me to choose French, that he saw I had good potential BUT the only problem he could see was that I was to quiet.  He explained how 'speaking' was a major part of any language.  So we decided it was best that I didn't choose French, because it just wasn't best for me.

There are many different countries in the world and many languages within those countries.  But the reality is that there really are only 2 Kingdoms (2 Dominions)  The kingdom of darkness and the Kingdom of Light.  The bible teaches us that the devil is the prince of this world, he is the author of confusion, temptation, sickness and his plan is to steal, kill and destroy BUT Jesus came to the earth to give us Life and abundant Life in his Kingdom Authority.

Each Kingdom has its own language its own words.  We were all born into this world, under the sinfulness of the kingdom of darkness and we all have the freedom to choose to receive or reject Christ Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.  When we receive Jesus as our Lord we then enter into His Kingdom, His Dominion and then we begin to learn how to speak the language of this new Kingdom.

The bible teaches us that death and life are in the power of our tongue.  Which means that the words we speak are either coming from the influence of the kingdom or dominion of darkness which is death or they are inspired by the Kingdom or Authority of Light which is Life.  Regardless of which 'natural language or accent we speak'.

As a new Christian, it is important to hear the words of God's Kingdom being spoken, because just like in the natural, a new language needs to be heard and spoken.  A child can learn a number of different languages when it is brought up with others who speak different languages.  So we see we are influenced by the people around us, by their conversation.

There are many examples I could use, that everyone experiences, but the one that I think is the most damaging is 'Condemnation'.  This is where the devil will come to a child of God and try to make them feel bad for something they have done or didn't do.  He will try to keep God's Children tied down to something from their past.  He will make them feel that 'how could God use you' 'how can you be a christian' 'you're a failure' 'you are no good' and on and on.  These kind of words are what I call the influence of the kingdom of darkness, they bring discouragement, hopelessness, confusion and fear etc.

But God wants us to learn to speak the words of his Kingdom.  Words of life, words of truth that sets us free and breaks every yoke of bondage.  His words are inspired with life and love and lifts us up and encourage and strengthen us.

Words like Isaiah 43v25 "I, (God) even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more"

and Isaiah 1v18 "come now, let us settle the matter" says the Lord "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool".

Jeremiah 31v34 "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more".

Psalm 103v12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us"

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

When the devil comes whispering in our ears, that we are not good enough, we have failed God and God can't use us and other condemning words - we can respond with God's Words of Truth - and say I am forgiven, I am loved, I am clean.  If you can learn even one of these verses and speak it over yourself daily, they will inspire the revelation and assurance in your heart and give you strength to overcome and allow peace to flow.

I have chosen this song today, it is a very old song, but I love the words of the chorus, I'm free from the fear of tomorrow, I'm free from the guilt of the past, I've traded my shackles for a glorious song, praise the Lord, I'm free, free at last. This is the greatest gift of all freedom from sin and peace in our hearts.

God gave his Son Jesus to the world, and Jesus gave his life, he took the punishment for our sin, so that we could be lifted out of the kingdom of darkness and brought into his marvelous Kingdom of Light.  So as you have received this greatest gift of salvation and freedom set yourself to speak only the language of his Kingdom and refuse everything else.

I want to encourage you today if you haven't already accepted Jesus as your Lord, to know this that He loves you and is waiting for you to come to him, he will not turn you away.  You can open your heart to him just where you are and just as you are.  His free gift of salvation is offered to you, will you accept him or reject him, it is your free choice?
