Psalm 86 - Thou art God alone

Image
Psalm 86 v10-12 Thou Art God Alone In life it is the simple things that bring us the most joy and nothing brings joy to the soul like singing as you go about your day.  Ephesians ch.5 vs 18-20 tell us "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion.  Instead, be filled with the Spirit.  Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, Always giving thanks to God the father for everything in the name of the our Lord Jesus Christ.  This little chorus was written in 1972.  Taken directly from Psalm 86 vs 10-12. Let us Read this beautiful Psalm and Magnify the Lord together:-  Bow down thine ear, O  Lord , hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, ar...

"Come unto me, all  ye  that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.   For my yoke  is  easy, and my burden is light."  Matthew 11 vs 28-30 This is one of my favourite scriptures.  I love that Jesus has given us an open invitation to come unto him, he has already made the way for us.  Hebrews 4 v 16 tells says " Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need"  To approach or to come unto him, takes conscious effort - it is movement.  So how do we approach the God of Creation? We all know what it is like to carry a heavy burden and what a great relief it is to lay it down or let someone else lift that burden.  Or after a long journey or hard days work, what a beautiful thing it is to come home.  Like th...

Healed by the Word of God

Image
Healed by the Word of God There are different ways of receiving healing, sometimes through others praying, sometimes through the laying on of hands, or by listening to the Word being preached in Faith.  But although there are different ways that people will pray etc,  there is only one true healer - Jesus Christ.  All healing is based in the Word of God.  The person praying will be praying based on the knowledge of the Word of God, that's why we see and hear so many different ways and types of prayers.  Ministers who lay hands on the sick, do so because they are commanded by the Word of God and they are praying having faith in the Word of God.  Every prayer is an act of faith, that God will hear our prayers and answer, but the question is 'what is the basis of our prayer'.  So we see many times people are not healed, so the question is then asked why not.  I believe there are a number of issues that can hinder a person from receiving healing....

You are God's beloved Child - no longer a slave to fear

You are God's Beloved Child - no longer a slave to fear Romans 8 tells us  So now the case is closed.  There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.    For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death.    For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin.    So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!  at we may also share in his glory. The mature children...

No U-Turn

To Listen click here -  https://youtu.be/IAhc9iNMbrI No U-Turn My husband and I were heading home after doing some business and we came to a new road layout and because we were talking and not paying full attention, my husband who was driving made a wrong turn and we found ourselves on the motorway heading in the wrong direction.  We couldn't just do a U-Turn but instead we had to drive to the next slip road and make the turn to cross over in order to change direction.  My husband blamed me for talking and distracting him, but even though I had apologised he was the one driving the car - so he was the one who made the wrong turn and now it was only him who could pull off at the next slip road so that we could be facing in the right direction towards home.   This made me think of how easy it is to take a wrong turn and find ourselves heading fast in the wrong direction.  We can be going along nicely and all of a sudden something can take our eyes of o...

More than a Promise of Abundant Life

Image
More than a Promise of Abundant Life When I was a young teenager my Dad told me time and time again that he would buy me a car and teach me to drive when I turned 17.  This was a promise and I had no reason to doubt him.  I believed him. I didn't know what type of car and I had no idea how to drive, but I believed it.  Then when I was 17, my Dad came into the house and called me downstairs and reached out his hand and he was holding a set of car keys.  He took me outside to show me my first car - a little 1980 mini - and took me for my first driving lesson.  This photo shows my younger brother pointing out that I am just a Learner and my beautiful baby sister and of course my treasured first car.  My dad had fulfilled his promise.  I didn't earn it, I had believed but now I had received it.   This is like Salvation, from the beginning God told about and promised to send the Messiah, the Redeemer.  Though out  the Old Testamen...

Miracles of Jesus Part 6

Image
Miracles of Jesus Part 6 Jesus heals the man at the pool of Bethesda - John 5 vs 1-9 5  After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2  Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3  In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. 4  For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. 5  And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6  When Jesus saw him, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7  The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me...

Miracles of Jesus part 5

Image
Miracles of Jesus Part 5 Jesus Heals Peter's Mother-in-law Matthew 8 vs 14-15 When Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw Peter's Mother-in-law lying sick with a fever, He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. No-one asked Jesus to pray, but it says that he saw her, and we see again the great compassion that Jesus had for the sick.  He touched her hand and the fever left - what a beautiful picture of the love and gentleness of his power. Many times, I hesitate to reach out and pray for someone because I don't know how they will react or I'm not confident enough.  But I am praying and asking the Holy Spirit to teach me to have the eyes to see and the compassion to reach out. Do you ever read these scriptures and think "Why are we not seeing these things happen today"?  Remember it is written "Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever" - Could it be that faith is not being preached?  Could it be that pe...
